It took 3 years, but a Knox County man was sentenced to 12 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections as part of a plea agreement for child molestation.
According to Knox County Prosecuter, Dirk Carnahan, the case involved the 5-year-old granddaughter of Wanke’s. An initial conviction was overturned, vacating a 60-year-sentence. The second trial led to a hung jury. Prosecutor Carnihan offered the 12 year deal to avoid the young victim to testify for a third time.
Superior Court 1 Judge, Gara Lee approved the plea agreement on Friday.
